This winter, over 7,000 nursing home workers and members of SEIU Healthcare PA from each corner of the state will come together to negotiate new contracts in 2013. Together with their allies, we ready to lead the way to achieve better care for our seniors and better jobs for ourselves and our co-workers.
Each day, we work hard to provide our residents with the quality of care and services they deserve. But too often, inadequate staffing levels and supplies make it a challenge to provide the highest level of care. Wages and benefits that do not keep up with the cost of living make it hard to provide for ourselves and our families.
Now, as we face the threat of more funding, we need to stand together – for our residents, our families, and our communities – and demand our nursing homes receive the funding they need and our employers compensate us fairly.
We need a strong contract to ensure we have the support we need to take care of ourselves and our residents. And achieving that is possible if we all stand together and work to hold our employers, our legislators and each other accountable.
