Our union is a democratic organization. Members hold leadership positions at every level and are elected by our co-workers.
Elections are currently being held for District Officers and Executive Board members.Â
Description of Elected Positions
Executive board members generally meet in or near Harrisburg at least five (5) times a year to oversee the overall business of the union including the union’s budget and finances, recommending changes to the unions constitution and by-laws, and making decisions about the union’s programs.
District officers oversee the statewide functioning of the union on a day-to-day basis and are full-time positions. Responsibilities include implementing the union’s programs, supervising staff, and supporting chapter leaders.
All elected leaders are expected to attend the union’s biennial Leadership Assembly.

Leadership Commitment Contracts
Petitions and contracts must be submitted to the office and postmarked by March 7th. They can be emailed to election@seiuhcpa.org; faxed to 717-238-8354; or mailed to SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, 1500 N. 2nd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.
If only one candidate is nominated for any particular position, he/she shall be considered to have been elected without further procedures. If more than one candidate is nominated for any statewide position a mail ballot election will be held.Â
Note: For the purposes of nominations and participation in elections, “member-in-good-standing” means any member who has paid all dues owed as of January 1, 2018.
Executive Board Members:
Candidates for Executive Board Positions must have been a member-in-good-standing for at least one year. Executive Board Members must be nominated by 2% of the members-in-good-standing of the chapter or combination of chapters the candidate seeks to represent.
District Officers:
District Officer positions include: President, Secretary-Treasurer, two Executive Vice Presidents, and five Vice Presidents.
Candidates for District Officer positions must have been a member-in-good-standing for at least one year.Â
District Officers must be nominated by 409 members-in-good-standing of the local union (equal to 2% of the membership).
