Most of us have chosen to work in long term care because we care about our residents and want to do the best job we can. But for too many of us, we can barely afford to do the job we love and often have to take on a second job or rely on public assistance.
In 2011, our nursing home industry made over $500 million in profit while at the same time giving us insufficient staffing, supplies and wages. It is time we stand together and demand more from our employers whose top priority needs to be quality jobs and quality care. That’s why we need to be all in to achieve a contract that provides us family-sustaining wages.
Download our leaflet on wages and pass along to your co-workers.
“For myself and my co-workers, I want to achieve fair wages and better treatment from management. For our residents, I want better quality care and quality food and the respect they deserve.”
– Danell Fuller, Cook, Brookside Nursing Home
