Harrisburg – In a decision issued today, Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court denied preliminary injunction sought by SEIU Healthcare PA, DOH nurses from Carbon, Beaver, Snyder and the Southeast District, Senators Timothy Solobay, John Wozniak, and State Reps Michael Hanna, Ted Harhai, and Pam Snyder, giving the Corbett Administration the green light to move ahead with their plans to close 26 state health centers and furlough 26 community health nurses.
“Today’s court’s ruling moves Pennsylvania’s public healthcare system in the wrong direction, representing the latest blow to the steady erosion of funding for Pennsylania’s public healthcare delivery,” said Sue Templin, School Health Nurse Consultant in the South Central District. “Rather than further limiting services we need the Corbett Administration to expand state funding to give Pennsylvanians the level of  public health services they deserve.”
SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania has not yet received an opinion on the judgment. Despite the denial of the injunction, the lawsuit’s hearing will proceed in upcoming weeks. Petitioners are considering appealing the injunction decision to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
