PA — On behalf of the nearly 45,000 healthcare workers and professionals of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, President Matthew Yarnell issued the following statement on the passage of the U.S. House tax plan:
“Today, members of the U.S. House of Representatives have made it clear that they choose to represent corporations over working families. With passage of their tax bill, they have cleared the way for one of the most massive transfers of wealth away from the working class to the wealthiest among us in our lifetime. As healthcare workers, our nation’s health and wellbeing is our greatest concern, and this bill makes us sick.
This tax plan means that 13 million Americans will lose access to healthcare; that seniors and children will be put at risk; and working families will struggle even harder to make ends meet. All so that Congress can provide massive tax giveaways to billionaires and corporations. We will not – we cannot – stand for this. We will hold these same elected officials accountable to the working families of America in 2018. That is a promise.”
