For the first time, we have a clear path to safe staffing in Pennsylvania nursing homes—but we haven't won yet.

We have 4 weeks in August to send messages of support for raising the state staffing standard. This 30-day period of public comment by the PA Department of Health is critical to pushing 4.1 across the finish line.

Look below to find all the actions you can take and events you can attend to push 4.1 across the finish line.

Have you submitted your public comment in support of 4.1 yet?

Where we are now:

  • The Department of Health announced proposed updates to state regulations for the first time in 25 years, increasing staffing from 2.7 to 4.1 hours of care per resident per day.
  • After caregivers demanded bedside funding, the state legislature allocated $247 million in relief funds to safe nursing home staffing.
  • In August, the Department of Health will receive four weeks of public comment, critical to enacting these reforms. We need to make it clear that we overwhelmingly support 4.1 and must enact safe nursing home staffing now.

Take the next step for 4.1
