On July 18th, 19th and 20th, almost 250 of our union’s most dedicated member leaders gathered in Carlisle for our Member Leadership and Action Institute, the first event of its kind designed to dig deep on training, education and strategizing around how to win for the 99%.
For three days, we learned how to become better leaders – both in our facilities and our communities – and engage our co-workers, community members and allies in the fight to win for working families in November and beyond. We drilled down on intensive training tracks including Quality Care, Social Media, Chapter Strength, Politics, Public Speaking and Organizing and created plans to hit the ground running when we returned to our chapters.
But building a lasting movement to reclaim the middle class will take more than just 250 member leaders; it requires all of us to stake a claim in the future of America’s working families and healthcare system and get engaged to bring about change.
