Earlier this week, more than a dozen Licensed Practical Nurses at Oak Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lower Burrell, Pa. voted unanimously to form their union with SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania.
This small but mighty new chapter in our SEIU family is one of many across the state finding their voice as union healthcare workers ready to stand up and demand a say in how their facilities deliver care to their residents and patients.
“Nurses have to organize now, not just for money or respect, but because when we don’t have a say, our patients are at risk,” said Cathy Zubick, an LPN at Oak Health. “It’s time for us to use our passion for our profession to work together and save lives.”
