On December 10th, caregivers at Extendicare Meadowcrest Nursing Center in Bethel Park, PA voted to join our union. They join over 500 union members from five other Extendicare facilities in Pennsylvania.
“It’s an honor to welcome our brothers and sisters at Meadowcrest into our union,” said Peter DeMarco, a CNA at Extendicare Mountain City Nursing Center in Hazle Township, PA. “Now that we have employees at six Extendicare facilities in Pennsylvania together in our union, we’ll be able to use our strength in numbers to get fair treatment.”
Meadowcrest employees are now focused on working with management to negotiate a fair contract that addresses their concerns.
“We are feeling so great now that we have finally formed our union,” said Cindy Palen, a cook at Meadowcrest for the past 18 years. “Now we’re going to work on what we need to change and we’re going to make our voice heard on wages, healthcare and resident care.”
