(February 19, 2022) – SEIU Healthcare PA members leaders rallied at Summer Lee’s newly opened campaign office as she seeks to represent “all working families” in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District that represents Pittsburgh and other adjacent counties.
Summer Lee gave an absolutely incredible speech to inspire workers and community leaders that now is the moment to get involved like never before to elect bold progressive champions in Congress who will fight for all working families.
Activists and community leaders representing a diverse coalition from various backgrounds spoke forcefully about why it is absolutely essential that working families seize this moment to elect a true progressive champion to claim this open Congressional seat.
Seniors for Summer Lee!
Homecare workers and other essential caregivers committed to “doing whatever it takes” to elect Summer Lee and pledged to volunteer to knock door, phone and text bank fellow workers and drop-off voters to mobilize them to get to the polls.
“It’s time for young women like Summer Lee to get elected who will represent people from all backgrounds, young and old and from all walks of life. We need a different point of view. We need new and different representation. Summer represents excitement, especially for young people,” said Dorcas Zuger, a home care worker through UPMC’s PPL program. She said she was thrilled that Summer is such a strong supporter of “Unions for All” and said electing more candidates like Summer will finally help bring back union rights to the top of the agenda.
