Last week, we rejected Excela’s last, best, and final proposal and delivered a letter to management demanding they return to the bargaining table on Monday, Nov. 22, before our contract expires.
Scheduling issues are keeping us from returning to bargaining this week but Excela has agreed to our demand to return to bargaining. However, we did work with management on an extension of our current contract to allow us to continue bargaining in good faith over the next week.
Our next bargaining dates will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, and Thursday, Dec. 2, with a potential vote on Friday, Dec. 3. We have negotiated in our extension that if we are to reach an agreement, any wage increases will be retroactive to Nov. 23.
We continue to assert that every Excela Frick Hospital employee deserves across-the-board wage increases in our base pay and a minimum starting wage of $15 per hour.
If we cannot reach an agreement by the end of next week we will proceed with plans for a public action and press conference on Wednesday, Dec. 8 — time and location to be determined.
