Commonwealth Health Professionals are Leading

Posted on January 19, 2021

Our Department of Health is underfunded. For over a decade, our public health system has been underfunded, undermining the work of our members, including our epidemiologists, who are responsible for coordinating pandemic response and providing care in our state hospitals and correctional institutions.

Through the power of our union, there is a path to address this crisis and make sure we never end up here again. We, as frontline caregivers, have the political power to make the lifesaving changes we need.

We are demanding:

Investment in our State Workers. In the upcoming budget, we want to make sure that our DOH workers are able to build back our healthcare system better and prevent future pandemic outbreaks and provide quality care for vulnerable populations.
Implementation of the Biden Public Health Corps in PA. We need our state legislature to work alongside their federal counterparts to mobilize at least 100,000 Americans across the country with support from trusted local organizations in communities most at risk to perform culturally competent approaches to contact tracing and protecting at-risk populations.

Stay up to date on our work to build political power for frontline caregivers by texting CRISIS to 787-753.
